Safe Communities Reentry Council

The mission of the Safe Communities Reentry Council (SCRC) is to promote the safe and successful return of formerly incarcerated individuals to our community by developing a comprehensive support system that reduces violence and recidivism, and promotes public safety.

AVAILABLE INFORMATION:
“Assessing Need for Reentry Services Among Probationers and Parolees in San Francisco” by Joan E. Allen. May 2008. Prepared for the Safe Communities Reentry Council and the San Francisco Reentry Council. Looking for information about the challenges facing people returning from jails and prisons to San Francisco? Download this report for an in-depth analysis about what data exists, and what we know about the magnitude of the need for reentry services in San Francisco.

Getting Out & Staying Out: A Guide to San Francisco Resources for People Leaving Jails and Prisons. (2.5 mb pdf file. This is a large document. If you have a slower internet connection, you may want to download the Guide in sections. See below.) This comprehensive resource guide was created by the Access to Resources Working Group, a collaboration of the Safe Communities Reentry Council and the San Francisco Reentry Council, to help recently released individuals navigate San Francisco’s public benefits, housing, health and employment service programs. The resource guide is also available to download split into sections. Download the guide in sections if you have a slower internet connection, or just want a portion of the Guide.

Please download, copy, and distribute this Guide as widely as you wish to support the successful reentry of people returning from prisons and jails.
